The task of describing a piece of music with the help of only words is a difficult one to undertake. These words will not ever be able to illustrate the feeling we so strive to achieve, from the bottom of our hearts and with all our strength when playing live, face to face or when working through endless days and nights on recorded material, and so the whole point seems to lose perspective. We only wish you could step into the room where we are playing.
We got together in February 2001. After the initial ups and downs of maturing into a band, in October 2002, Velvet Stab was born. An experience touching all extremes, from fast paced punkrock rhythms to blistering metal, quieting down to ambient passages as the vocals follow with melodic singing and adrenaline packed screaming, this is hardcore for today. Inspired by the likes of The Deftones, Glassjaw, Snapcase, Tool, Turmoil or Boysetsfire, we are tempted to dig further. Our music is parallel with our belief that the only way of evolving, is by losing our restricting boundaries, and creating new methods and forms to escape from all the rest. Our message provokes you to think, and to question conventions that surround us. That is why we endeavour to push the hardcore envelope by creating something diverse both musically and on the vocal side.As the first step, we recorded our debut five-song EP titled "Where Parallels Meet" in 2003, and started playing live extensively. In 2004 we signed with Beniihana Records from Germany, where our aforementioned EP is being released this spring. As for the future, we'll do everything so you and us all can step into the same room.
